For the ladies, you will be more sensitive one week prior and during your cycle due to the hormones in your body. Try to schedule your appointment the week to two weeks after your cycle ends. Of course we will still wax you during your cycle as long as you wear a tampon or cup.
Discontinuing any product that exfoliates or dries the skin for at least 2 weeks prevents tears, scabbing or burning. Examples are: Accutane, Differin, Retin A/Retinol, Glycolic acid/AHA’s, ProActive, Avita, Benzoyl peroxide, Salicylic acid/ BHA’s
Wax grabs on to the length of the hair so the longer the better. Try not to trim! If need be, we will do that for you
For body waxing treatments, please allow about 2 weeks of growth before your visit. Everyone’s hair grows at a different pace, but 2 weeks is a good rule-of-thumb. The longer the growth (within reason) will mean less tweezing and a cleaner wax. Your hair must be at least the length of a grain of rice..... or the length of your natural pinky nail.
You will notice your skin is a little red and sensitive to the touch after your wax, this is very normal and usually subsides within an hour or two.
Waxing is very exfoliating, exposing fresh healthy skin that will burn easily. If you plan on being out in the sun, apply and reapply that sunscreen like your life depends on it@
There is a bacteria in your sweat that will irritate your freshly waxed skin. Try to avoid working out for 24 hours post wax. Also, try to avoid saunas, steam rooms, pools and jacuzzis as well as the ocean. Our goal is to minimize irritation as much as possible!
You know how you brush your teeth everyday in between dental cleanings? At home skin care is just as important. Exfoliate with a light scrub or glove in the shower to remove dead skin cells allowing your new hairs to grow through the skin instead of getting caught underneath forming ingrowns!
